J.J. Watt Makes Demand to Titans Over Oilers Throwback Uniforms After Texans’ OT Win

J.J. Watt has never been a fan of the Titans reviving the throwback Oilers uniforms in NFL games.

Before the Titans resided in Nashville, the franchise originated in Houston and remained in the city for nearly four decades before moving to Memphis in 1997 and eventually the Music City. In October, ahead of the Titans’ 28–23 victory against the Falcons in Week 8, the former Texans defensive end said it “hurt him” to see the Oilers uniforms worn by another franchise that isn’t Houston.

Shortly after the Texans’ 19–16 overtime victory against the Titans in Week 15, Watt wasted no time in revisiting his demand that the Texans should be the only franchise with permission to wear the old Oilers uniforms.

“We get the uniforms back. That’s how this works, I don’t make the rules. Sorry, not sorry. Too bad, so sad,” Watt tweeted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Although Watt’s demand may not come to fruition, the Texans (8–6) registered their eighth win of the season on Sunday and its first without rookie signal-caller C.J. Stroud, who suffered a concussion in the Texans’ 30–6 loss to the Jets in Week 14.

The Texans return to action in Week 16 against the Browns (9–5) on Christmas Eve.
