Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is one of the more electrifying players in the NFL. He has become one of the more polarizing players because of his personality.
He is not the affable, media-friendly leader that many quarterbacks are.
He leads in other ways. He is super competitive.
Teammate J.J. Watt, entering his second season with the Cardinals, believes in him but recognizes he isn’t like many other quarterbacks.
Watt spoke about Murray when he appeared on The Pat McAfee Show Wednesday.
“He’s a different quarterback (and) he knows that,” Watt said. “He’s not the traditional quarterback that you look at either from a personality and media standpoint or from the way he plays the game. And I think that he knows that, he has accepted it and he embraces that.
“He’s going to do it his way and that’s what he’s committed to and that’s the way he’s going to go about things.”
Watt describes some of the things Murray does on the field as “just unbelievable.”
He said Murray had success in high school and in college doing it his way.
In the NFL, “he’s going to be successful with it, as well.”
Watt said no one is worried about Murray’s contract status and no one is worried about whether Murray will be the team’s long-term quarterback. He believes it will get taken care of this summer.
