Former NFL star J.J. Watt seems to be having fun in retirement, showing up to watch his brother, T.J. Watt, play with the Pittsburgh Steelers last week against the Tennessee Titans. He’s also letting loose on social media, clapping back at a fan who criticized, of all this, his Terrible Towel-waving technique.
A Steelers podcaster named Mike Nicastro came at Watt online for Watt’s towel-waving, which looked more like he was at a concert than twirling the towel for a Steelers game.
NFL Player JJ Watt = Hall of Famer

Terrible Towel twirler JJ Watt = revoke this man’s credentials #Steelers pic.twitter.com/48y2tWnjwM
But J.J. had the perfect response, quote-tweeting the criticism with a hilarious in-depth breakdown of the justifications for his poor form. Among the explanations: Too many tater tots and pretzels eaten, a lack of endurance, even J.J.’s height in the suite.
Let me break down the situation for you Mike…

A) I was 245 tater tots & 7 Sarri’s Pretzels deep by this point.
B) this was about 7 min. into Renegade and I had not properly endurance trained my shoulder for that length of twirling
C) I kept hitting the ceiling with the towel https://t.co/pcdZldmVQR
The response was perfect, and a great example of why Watt has won over many fans even in retirement. Shouting out Sarri’s Pretzels only furthered his cause with the Pittsburgh faithful.
Hahaha!!!

Now I see why you were working out at the Steelers facility the next day 🥨
245 tots and Sarris.
Strengthening shoulder endurance for towel waving purposes.
Dude, you are such a Yinzer. https://t.co/nch25DqNRJ
give JJ credit for at least TRYING to twirl it. So many newbies and celeb fans just shake it back and forth like a pen low on ink. https://t.co/isH3ikWiVP

As a Steelers fan, no one’s shoulder is built for twirling a towel for the entirely of Renegade https://t.co/LspImwGcen
