Film cameras have made a comeback in earnest, as my social media feed is heavily populated with retro-style photos. You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on a good film camera either — take the Lomography Simple Use, for instance. It’s one of the best cheap cameras around, as for just $27, it comes pre-loaded with a 27-exposure roll of film and an AA battery to power its built-in flash.
Alongside the flash, the Simple Use also packs a set of colored gel filters to help you get creative shots. It’s extremely easy to use (as you’ve probably guessed from the name), and the photos it takes have a retro, vintage look to them. However, film removal is slightly fiddly; build quality isn’t the best; and there’s some chromatic aberration in the photos.
