Ivana Trump is hailed as a “trailblazer” who embodied the American dream as her children pay a moving tribute to her at her funeral.
The 1980s style icon and businesswoman was laid to rest with 100 people in attendance - including her ex-husband Donald Trump, his wife Melania and their 16-year-old son Barron.
Her three children Donald Trump Jr, Eric and Ivanka spoke fondly of her at the service at St. Vincent Ferrer Church on the Upper East Side on Wednesday.
Ivanka said: “Growing up, my mother didn’t tell me a woman could do anything she wanted to — she showed me.
”She was a trailblazer to men and women alike. My mother once told me there was nothing she couldn’t do in heels. She taught us how to spear fish and then cook what we caught. My mom expanded our minds.”
Don Jr. and Eric Trump also delivered eulogies about their mother at the mass.
Eric added: “She had brains; she had beauty. She was the embodiment of the American dream … She was a force of nature, could beat any man down the slopes, any woman on the runway.
“She ruled the three of us with an iron fist but also a heart of gold.”
News the 73-year-old had died at her home in Manhattan was announced on Thursday.
Her death was caused by blunt impact injuries to her torso in a tragic accident, authorities said.
Ivana Trump and Donald Trump’s love story goes back to when they met in the 1970s and they were married from 1977 until 1992.
In the 1980s, they were a power couple and she became well known in her own right.
A style icon, Ivana became instantly recognisable for her glamorous looks including her blonde hair in an updo style.
She took part in her husband’s businesses, managing one of his Atlantic City casinos and picking out some of the design elements in New York City’s Trump Tower.
Their very public divorce was bitter but in recent years things changed and they grew friendly again.
She was an enthusiastic supporter of Mr Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and revealed they spoke on a regular basis.
