Ivan Toney scores on Brentford return in behind-closed-doors friendly vs Como 1907

Ivan Toney scored in his first match since being hit with an eight-month FA ban for betting breaches, as Brentford B drew 2-2 with Italian side Como 1907 on Tuesday.

Former Wimbledon and Chelsea midfielder Dennis Wise is president of the Serie B club, and Toney was on target in the entertaining draw at Plough Lane, the home of AFC Wimbledon.

Toney scored the first of Brentford B’s two goals, receiving a pass from Frank Onyeka and rounding the goalkeeper before slotting home.

He was substituted immediately afterwards, with 61 minutes on the clock, before Max Dickov, son of ex-player Paul, scored Brentford B’s second in the behind-closed-doors friendly.

27-year-old Toney was banned from all football-related activities and fined £50,000 in May after accepting 232 charges for breaching FA betting rules.

He cannot play competitively again for Brentford until January 17, but has been permitted to train with the club since September 18.

He could be the subject of a bidding war in the January transfer window, with Chelsea and Arsenal just two of a number of clubs weighing up a move for the England striker.
