Ivan Toney hit out at Brentford 's "embarrassing" display as the Bees were beaten 4-0 by Aston Villa on Sunday.
Two goals from Danny Ings and one from Leon Bailey saw Villa open up a three-goal lead in their first game since Steven Gerrard was sacked as manager. Ollie Watkins scored a fourth in the second half to give the hosts their biggest league win since they beat Southampton by the same scoreline in early March.
The result leaves Thomas Frank's side in 10th place, though they will drop a spot if there is a winner in the Monday night game between West Ham United and Bournemouth. It was a second successive heavy away defeat for the London club, and Toney voiced his dissatisfaction.
"Shambles, to be honest. Shambles," Toney said. "They fully deserved the result and it could have been more. We were like a bunch of kids out there. I don't mind losing games but not like that. Embarrassing performance from the boys.
"We knew what they were about, we knew they had quality throughout the team. They put in a performance today and deserved to win.
"Fifteen minutes in, 3-0 down. That cannot happen in a Premier League game. We had it against Newcastle and we bounced back so hopefully we can do that again."

The result at Villa Park continues Brentford's Jekyll and Hyde form this season. Frank's team have 11 points from six home games but just three points from six games on the road, and 15 of their 21 goals conceded have come away from the Gtech Community Stadium.
For the home side, meanwhile, it was a huge result after Gerrard was dismissed with relegation becoming a real possibility. Aaron Danks was in caretaker charge for the win, which lifted Villa out of the relegation places and up to 14th.
"I had to pinch myself," Danks told BBC Sport. "We asked for energy, we asked for lots of endeavour and work rate and the boys brought that. The gameplan was a lot of phycological stuff as well, about our attitude and application and togetherness.
"We felt for a few weeks this was coming. We had put some good performances in but the goals were just missing. Today we were clinical and ruthless and today is the result you get from that.
"I have been asked to lead the team at the moment and will continue to do that and will step forward Monday morning to prepare the team as we go and until I hear otherwise it is full focus and energy on that."
