Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda has been mooted as a potential target for Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window
The Gunners led the Premier League title race for most of the 2022/23 season but ultimately fell short, finishing five points behind eventual champions Manchester City. Now, the task is to try and challenge again next term, something that will be made easier if they make the right moves in the transfer market.
football.london understands Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his defence and the aforementioned Fresneda has consistently been mentioned as a target in recent times. So, football.london has decided to round up everything we've heard regarding the Spaniard's future with Valladolid.
Interest revived
Arsenal have revived their interest in signing defender Ivan Fresneda this summer, according to a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo. The Gunners are claimed to be in a battle with Spanish giants Barcelona, with the two teams able to activate his release clause after Real Valladolid's relegation.

Relegation clause
According to the Sun, Arsenal have revived their interest in Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda after the Spanish club's relegation from La Liga.
Mikel Arteta's side were interested in signing Fresneda during the January transfer window but a deal failed to materialise. But it is now claimed that Valladolid's relegation to the Segunda division has resulted in Fresneda's asking price being halved - something that has resulted in the Gunners rekindling their pursuit in the 18-year-old.
Summer wait
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Fresneda won't be leaving Valladolid, in the winter window at least. Taking to Twitter, Romano said: "Understand Iván Fresneda will stay at Valladolid in January unless there are twists in the final hours.
"Arsenal & Borussia Dortmund wanted Spanish talented RB but deal was never done, Fresneda now expected to stay and help Valladolid. Next step: top club move in the summer."
Player admission
Fresneda was captured reassuring Valladolid supporters that he would not be leaving the La Liga club this month. After stopping to sign some shirts for some Valladolid fans, the 18-year-old said, as per The Metro: "No, I’m not leaving, calm down."
Transfer price
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Valladolid have requested €15million (£13.25million) to let Fresneda leave in the next week. The Spanish club are said to be keen on loaning the youngster back for the rest of the season, something Arsenal aren't said to be willing to do.
Fresneda interest
football.london understands Arsenal are tracking a potential move for Ivan Fresneda before the end of the January transfer window. The young full-back has impressed for his side so far and his ability to play in an inverted role, essentially joining the midfield line, fits Mikel Arteta's philosophy.
