IUML leader join CPI(M) in Kannur

KANNUR

The Indian Union Muslim League’s local leader, K. Muhammad Ali, resigned from the party and joined the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] here on Monday. Mr. Ali was the member of the IUML State council and the district working committee. CPI(M) district secretary M.V. Jayarajan welcomed Mr. Ali into the party at the CPI(M) district committee office. Mr. Ali told the media that he had decided to work with the CPI(M) realising that only the Left Front and the CPI(M) could protect the minorities and defend them from the Bharatiya Janata Party. He accused the IUML leadership of protecting money launderers and hiding their money in fake accounts. He alleged that without his knowledge, an account was opened in his name in a Malappuram bank and ₹8.80 lakh was deposited. The bank had deposits in the name of late IUML leader Abdul Khader Moulavi and 12 persons from Kannur.  Though there had been no IUML district president named Faizi, an account was in his name, he said, and added that even IUML district secretary Abdul Kareem Cheleri was facing a probe in a sand smuggling case.   State committee member T.V. Rajesh and district secretariat members P. Purushothaman and T.K. Govindan were present.
