Gordon Ramsay's latest show, Next Level Chef, has been slammed by viewers following the first episode on Wednesday, January 11. The series, which is based on the American show of the same name, sees 12 aspiring chefs face a cooking competition like no other, because it all takes place in an epic 50ft-tall three-story kitchen. Read more about the concept of the series here.
In the new show, 56-year-old Gordon is joined by chefs Paul Ainsworth and Nyesha Arrington - read more about them here. Contestants are split into three teams, which features a mix of professionals, home and social media chefs. They must then grab ingredients and prepare a delicious item within minutes to progress to the next round of the show. The chef who proves they can adapt best to their surroundings will win a £100,000 prize and a year long mentorship from Gordon, Paul and Nyesha.
Despite being billed as the "toughest ever cooking challenge", Next Level Chef failed to strike a chord with viewers. Read on to hear what they had to say.

A second echoed: "The production on next level chef is very…American. That’s not a compliment." And a third agreed, writing: "Far too fake American whoop whoop grab grab, I turned it off at the first adverts, shame cos @GordonRamsay is my fave tv chef"
Elsewhere, there were some fans of the new series. One person wrote: "This has me hooked already and we're only 12 mins in." A second then said: "Loving the total competitiveness between @GordonRamsay @PaulAinsw6rth @nyeshajoyce and awesome mentoring. Brilliant show. #nextlevelchefuk (go on the home cooks)." A third commented: "Next Level Chef is brutal, I love it."
It remains to be seen whether viewers will warm to Next Level Chef. The series continues next Wednesday, January 18 at 9pm on ITV1.For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
