ITV1 The Chase's Bradley Walsh in disbelief after failing to spot 'royal' contestant connection

Full of funny one-liners it is unusual for something to slip past ITV1's The Chase host Bradley Walsh, however, the presenter was left in disbelief after he almost failed to spot a link between the contestants' names. This is not the first time that Bradley has missed a pattern on the panel.

Appearing on The Chase on Friday, March 31 during a repeat episode were contestants Tudor, Liz, Henry and Mary whose names are all linked to the Tudor period in Royal history. Bradley remained oblivious to the connection until chaser Darragh Ennis pointed it out to him.

Having a little joke about contestant Mary's hobby of making cocktails, Darragh said: "Hello Mary, well considering the contestants' names today you have got a very appropriate hobby, you really are a bloody Mary". While Bradley looked on blankly, Darragh said: "Don't tell me you didn't spot it, Brad?"

Then the connection clicked and Bradley exclaimed: "Again! I've done it again! Tudor, Liz, Henry and Mary! What is the matter with me? Pay attention! There you are kings and queens of the Tudor era, brilliant." Many viewers on social media also spotted the connection.

One said: "I see what they did with the names #TheChase" and: "Ha that name connection #TheChase". A third said: "Brad never noticed the names connection incoming? #TheChase".

Another added: "A royal lineup on #TheChase" and: "The four players on the chase are called Mary, Liz, Henry and Tudor and nobody is mentioning it". This was not the first time Brad missed the names all having a connection as previously he failed to spot the song titles when the contestants were named Carmen, Eileen, Danny and Roy.

Chaser Shaun Wallace pointed it out to Bradley when he broke into song. He said: "You can see from your names... 'Come on Eileen' - get it? Carmen - Eileen [referring to the Dexys Midnight Runners hit]. And the Londonderry Air - 'Oh Danny Roy...'"
