A former Manchester City player has revealed that her mother has been killed by a truck while on her way back from the gym.
Dr Nadia Nadim revealed the news of the tragic incident that happened on Tuesday morning via her Instagram account. Nadim's mother was only 57, the footballer said.
Nadim, who currently plays for American club Racing Louisville and is a Denmark international, was part of ITV's panel for the coverage of Denmark against Tunisia on Tuesday when she heard the news.

In a heartfelt post accompanied by a pitch-black picture, Nadim wrote: "Tuesday morning my Mother was killed by a truck. She was on her way back from the gym.
"Words can not describe what I’m feeling. I have lost the most important person in my life and it happened so sudden and unexpected. She was only 57. She was a warrior who had fought for every inch of her life. She didn’t give me life once but twice, and everything I/ we are is because of her.
"I have lost my home and I know nothings gonna ever feel the same. Life is unfair and I don’t understand why her and why this way. I love you and I will see you again.
"Her funeral is gone be soon, (more information to follow)Please come and show her the love , respect and prayers she deserves."
Nadim was forced to escape Afghanistan in 2000 when the Taliban executed her father, Rabani, an army general. At the age of 11 she left the country with her mum and four sisters while being forced to sell all their belongings.
She became passionate about football while in a refugee camp in Denmark and became part of the national team. Her international debut for the country was made in 2009, leading to 38 goals in 99 games.
