ITV Tipping Point changes confirmed as Ben Shephard returns with new series

Tipping Point viewers might notice a change to their favourite daytime show when they tune in on Monday, April 11. Host Ben Shephard has announced a shake-up to the series as it returns for a brand new season.

The ITV quiz show, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in July after launching in 2012, sees contestants take on an old-school coin machine in the hopes of winning big money. With multiple rounds, contestants must answer questions correctly in order to drop a coin and if it falls successfully, their cash prize rises.

To mark the anniversary, the new series has had a shake-up. Host Ben recently spoke about the changes and the celebrations during a segment on This Morning.

Speaking to presenters Vernon Kay and Josie Gibson, he explained: "We love the support we've had from so many watching it, 10 years of Tipping Point, thank you to everyone who has watched it. The new series starts at 4pm today, few changes for this series as well, you can see there are only three contestants so you'll get to see that in the daytime shows at 4pm on ITV."

The changes were also teased on the official Tipping Point social media account. A post read: "Brand New Tipping Point returns to ITV. And to celebrate 10 Years on your screen things have been shaken up in the studio a little... Join @benshephard from 4pm #TippingPoint."

Ben also spoke about why Tipping Point is so popular after so many years, explaining that the nostalgia that comes with the giant arcade means many love playing it. He said: "A lot of it is to do with nostalgia, these old penny fall machines that we all loved playing as kids down at the end of the pier and then we give people a chance to come in and have a go." He added: "It's also a comfort and woven into everyday lives."

It comes after Tipping Point was unexpectedly removed from the schedule last week to make way for the Grand National coverage. You can read more on this here. For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
