ITV This Morning viewers wonder what they've tuned in to as Dermot O'Leary told off by Alison Hammond

This Morning viewers were questioning what they had tuned in to before Dermot O'Leary was 'told off' by his co-host Alison Hammond. The pair were back at the helm of the ITV daytime programme on Friday (January 27) for the last edition of the show of the week.

The jam-packed show saw the pair kick off with a look at the day's headlines in 'This Morning's View' with Carol Vorderman and Gyles Brandreth before launching into the show's usual segments and celebrity interviews. But also a guest on the latest episode was Teddy Hobbs.

The youngster is hitting the headlines after becoming the UK’s youngest-ever member of Mensa before the age of 4. After teaching himself to read at just 26 months old, he can now count to 100 in six different languages and loves reciting his times tables. And once, Teddy got so excited over fractions he gave himself a nosebleed.

Appearing live in the This Morning studio, Teddy was joined by his mum Beth who chatted to Alison and Dermot about her son's incredible achievements. However, when he arrived for his interview, Dermot asked for high five which resulted in little Teddy wanting to repeat the action.

As the pair started causing a bit of distraction as they messed around while the cameras were rolling, Alison turned to her co-star to jokingly scold him as she said: "Dermot O’Leary, I’m trying to have an interview! And you’re just playing." The former X Factor host then asked: "What am I supposed to do?!" as he fell back onto the sofa with Teddy in view.

Alison did try and help by encouraging Teddy to go back to his mum, but it wasn’t long before the four-year-old had got back up from her lap and reached out to Dermot for another high five. This time, when Teddy ran over to Dermot, the presenter picked him up and gave him a tickle on the sofa, as he laughed.

Watching the chaos unfold from home, This Morning viewers were quick to comment on social media and joked it was a 'bad idea' to have Dermot live on the show with the toddler. @MatthewMitt6 asked: "Why have I turned on #ThisMorning to see Dermot being attacked by a child?" @JoboMcfo laughed: "@thismorning who thought it was a good idea to put a child and @radioleary together on live TV? #ThisMorning."

@VLChesh typed: "Dermot’s got him all wound up and he can’t calm down now . Think Dermot was enjoying himself as much as Teddy! Saw him on news the other evening - such a cute and clever kid. #ThisMorning@Samanth22356123 wrote: "Dermot is just a big kid himself isn’t he?! #ThisMorning."

@Borisnose2 posted: "Kids smacking ten bells out out dermot. Say what you like about the chap but you can just tell he is a great dad! #thismorning." @king_cadey shared: "This interview’s chaos! Dermot & Alison are big kids themselves! #thismorning." @Nath22717146 echoed: "That was chaos but extremely cute and god he’s clever!! #thismorning."

There was, however, time for some chat as Beth said of realising her son's abilities: "During lockdown, he started doing things that his friends hadn't been doing. We started going out for walks and he would count house numbers.

"He would be watching children's TV but he'd rather watch educational programmes, so Alphablocks and Numberblocks." But, as viewers saw, Beth admitted that despite Teddy an extremely clever toddler, he is still "very much still a four year old".
