ITV This Morning viewers slam Alice Beer as she gives energy-saving 'lecture' in her 'big' home

ITV show This Morning left some viewers fuming with a segment offering energy-savings tips. Consumer reporter Alice Beer appeared live from her home in Wiltshire via video link as she shared ways people could reduce their heating bills this winter amid rising energy prices.

While hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield watched on from the studio, Alice spoke about three thermostatic controls people should check in the house as she went around pointing out each one, reports Manchester Evening News. She began by talking about the thermostat, which is usually located in the hall.

Alice said: "One in five have got that set at 22 degrees - that's Lanzarote temperatures. What it should be set at is somewhere around 18 degrees. We know that if you turn it down, that will save you - with current figures - at least £80 a year, so that is one vital thing that we should all be doing."

She also advised viewers to turn off radiators in rooms that are not being used, like guest bedrooms. Alice then moved to a control usually found in the boiler cupboard that adjusts water temperature.

The reporter said that control should be set about 60 degrees and not any higher. She added: "Try it at 55 and then if you can do it a little lower, you will notice the difference in your bills."

But viewers took to social media to complain about the segment, with some taking exception to the "lecturing" advice as they pointed out how big Alice's house was.

@Auntie_Dana added: "That cupboard is as big as my house! No Alice don't tell me what MY heating SHOULD be set to. And nope the dial isn't in my hall #ThisMorning." @S829MLY commented: "It's a sad place where people need the government to tell them to turn things off to save electricity... #ThisMorning."
