This Morning viewers were quick to react as KSI appeared on the show in his latest TV appearance. Last week, the singer, YouTuber and boxer appeared on The One Show where he was quizzed about his new music, documentary and THAT viral drink.
And things were no different when he headed to chat to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on the ITV daytime show on Monday (January 30). As he appeared live in the studio on the show's famous sofa, KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams "JJ" Olatunji. opened up about the pressure of social media and becoming a role model for his followers as well as discussing his new documentary ‘KSI: In Real Life’.
During the interview, he admitted that shooting the documentary "became really therapeutic" and said: "I didn’t know what to expect from the doc so I guess it’s cool that it’s humanised me, to show that I am human and essentially, even with everything that’s going on, it’s just me, that’s just how I am.
"I think people started to realise and go, you know what, we see him on YouTube doing all these crazy things but when he’s just himself behind the camera, when everything is turned off, he’s just a normal human being." When the hosts mentioned him being a role model, KSI said he "felt like it was a lot of pressure" when he was younger, telling Phillip and Holly: "I was like, I’m just a guy that’s making content on YouTube. Why am I now being seen as a role model? I’m just a normal guy… Leave me alone.
"Whereas now, I just know so many people are inspired by the content I make. Even with the [documentary], so many people have hit me up and are like ‘you’ve inspired me so much, I want to talk to my parents more, and want to you know, like really improve my family relationship’ because it’s a thing a lot of people forget about."
He continued: "I think it’s cool that as a role model, I try to be the best person I can. You know, I’m human, I’m going to make mistakes, I’m not perfect but every time I do make a mistake, try to improve on it and show everyone like, there’s better ways to be."
But he couldn't have been on the show without being quizzed on his Prime, the hydration drink he launched with fellow YouTuber and boxer Logan Paul. Earlier this month videos went viral of shoppers desperate to get their hands on the drink in the UK as it went on sale in another retailer.
"So there's... well, obviously, there is the drinks, which are just... insane..." Phillip, 60, started by saying. I bought some. I bought some," KSI said to which Phillip quickly remarked: "You can sell them!" Holly then laughed as she told KSI: "Get them on eBay, because you can get £53."
"It is crazy - even on TikTok, I scroll and I see people selling it for £20 a bottle. What is going on guys?" KSI replied before Holly jumped back in and asked: Do you know where I could get some?" As Phillip confirmed: "£54 is the highest we've seen, £54 a bottle."
Despite the chaos around the drink, This Morning viewers were flocking to social media to praise KSI over his appearance on the show. @xHEATHERMOYESx tweeted: "My son is obsessed with @KSI I’ve been watching his documentary with him. He appears to be a great role model."
@ChelsieBusted said: "How can you not love @KSI #ThisMorning." @CarolMoore60 wrote: "Fair play to KSI. Kept his feet on the ground and looked after his parents when he made money. #ThisMorning." @paulpresenteruk posted: "What a sound guy @KSI is! #ThisMorning." @I_knew_Bob added: "@KSI What a complete contrast to your #lorraine interviews. The real you on #ThisMorning was so refreshing. What a lovely gentleman you are, your parents must be so proud that you are the real you now! A great new song also. Would love to see you box live one day, regards."
