ITV This Morning viewers horrified by 'frightening' change to popular game Spin to Win

This Morning viewers have shared their horror as a change was made to the show's Spin to Win game. Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were back at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Monday (September 5).

The hosting duo made an extravagant return to the show with the help of the West End cast of Mary Poppins which left viewers flocking to social media to comment. But Holly and Phillip's return to the programme also meant the popular game was back as it was temporarily retired in their absence.

And to mark it's return, viewers had two chances to be chosen to play. The game usually sees a lucky fan of the show given the chance to win up to £3,000 with other, smaller prizes in between which has previously ranged from cash to trips out.

As ever Holly and Phil eagerly awaited who they'd speak to today as all the person at the other end of the phone had to say today's passphrase. But the 41 and 60-year-old stunned viewers as they revealed a new prize had been introduced to the game.

Fans of This Morning will be able to win a cash prize, with £1,000 and £3,000 still up for grabs on the wheel. But those in charge of the show have now added energy bills to the wheel, meaning the show will pay the lucky winner's energy bills for four months if they land on it.

Phil and Holly casually introduced the game's new prize during the first of two Spin to Win segments on today's show. "You can win all kind of great prizes," Holly said. "This week, we've got our usual cash prizes but you can also win some extra cash to pay your energy bills until the end of the year,' Phillip then added. "That's four months of energy bills totally taken care of."

Before spinning the wheel for one of the callers, named Darren, Phillip asked him whether or not he was concerned with the soaring prices of electricity in the UK. Naturally, the caller admitted that he was dreading the colder months, and shared his relief once the wheel landed on the 'energy bills' option.
