This Morning viewers made their feelings heard as they hit out at the show's 'traumatising' opening. Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield returned to the latest episode of the show on Wednesday (September 28).
And while you may be feeling colder, the duo's opening to the ITV daytime show came as a surprise to viewers as, when the hosts appeared, Christmas music was heard playing in the studio as a tease to an upcoming segment about luxury advent calendars despite only just doing a segment on pumpkin farms ahead of Halloween.
"Do you know, it doesn't sound weird," Holly commented as faux snow filled the windows behind them. The 41-year-old then added: "It's so nice!" as Bing Crosby's hit song It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas continued to play out.
She then shared how her daughter, Belle, started listening to Christmas music last month before bed leading to a stunned Phillip, 60, to reply: "Really?!"
"See I know you go early, but I think you can go too early," he then added before Holly explained why she has a habit of getting into the Christmas spirit earlier than some: "Do you know what it is, it just feels nice, you listen to that and you just go, 'ahhhhhhh'."
Phillip tried to argue back: "Yeah but not in August!" While Holly argued: "Well, never too early!" And it appears This Morning viewers were on Phillip's side as they instantly flocked to social media to comment.
@uktv_Forever tweeted: "#ThisMorning FGS Stop talking about Christmas it’s September." @libbyleopard fumed: "IT’S SEPTEMBER!!! NO!!! JUST NO!!! #ThisMorning." @Shopgirl19701 echoed: "F**k sake! Christmas? No. No. #ThisMorning." @JBFletcher15 argued: "F**k off with Christmas in September, it's traumatising for some #ThisMorning."
After teasing the segment throughout the show, Sarah Jossel finally appeared for the festive-inspired segment about beauty advent calendars which are already hitting the shelves in some retailers with 88 days to go until the big occasion.
Sarah talked the hosts and viewers through an array of different calendars from stores such as Next and John Lewis. However, the advent calendars came out pricey for many with limited options available for £100 - with a Jo Loves advent calendar costing £335, albeit being worth £560.
@Mabel_Mouse_ tweeted: "Oh goodie! They’re going to show us advent calendars that no one can afford! Read the room fgs, people are scared stiff about affording Christmas because they can’t afford to eat or heat their homes #ThisMorning."
@lisab28782 commented: "#thismorning this is the segment that every year makes me cringe. Especially this year. Kids will be lucky to get a chocolate calendar. Adults will be grateful every month they make their mortgage payment. £200 advent calendars?! I despair." @LifeInHerYet added: "We're still in September, yet #ThisMorning are discussing advent calendars. Given the cost of living crisis, most people won't be celebrating #Christmas! So ramming Xmas down our necks so early on, is a tad hurtful. Love you guys, but c'mon."
