ITV This Morning viewers divided as 'nervous' Steps star Claire Richards joins show

This Morning viewers were surprised to see a new yet very familiar face take over a segment on the show. Claire Richards, who is best known for being one-fifth of pop group Steps, swapped the stage for the ITV studio on Thursday (August 4).

She joined hosted Vernon Kay and Rochelle Humes on the popular daytime show to bring viewers various looks that they can pick up on a shoestring budget.

The Tragedy and 5,6,7, or 8 singer's budget buys included an outfit for under £30 from George at Asda as well as other picks from F&F at Tesco and high-stree favourite Primark.

But as This Morning viewers watched Claire, they couldn't help but think she appeared nervous and were left divided over the segment on social media.

@Dc7073Bloss tweeted: "#ThisMorning Claires lovely but she definitely nervous doing this, out of her comfort zone." @WorfDelm2016 asked: "Why is she so nervous she used to sing "live" in front of thousands. #thismorning."

While @FlopsyPickle commented: "What makes Claire a stylist? They keep just having random celebs doing the fashion segments #ThisMorning." @EvilSuperman23 echoed: "Is Gok and Lisa on holiday??? Oh I know let's call Claire from steps. Random #thismorning."

Whereas @missohlola cheered: "Finally a realistic and affordable fashion segment!!!!!!!!!!! #ThisMorning." @Stepharrnee added: "Blimey, when Claire said bargain prices she wasn't lying. #ThisMorning." @mrscarter22 added: "@thismorning @_ClaireRichards At last! Thank you Claire! Someone who recognises that there's a #CostOfLivingCrisis #ThisMorning."

Claire joined Vernon and Rochelle in the ITV studio (ITV)

Clair and her Steps bandmates are celebrating 25 years together this year. Last month the group released the music video for their brand new single, Hard 2 Forget, which has been recorded as part of celebrations for the pop group's anniversary this year. And speaking to the Mirror earlier this week, Claire, who joined the band at 19, said: "I don’t think any of us knew or realised that it would be 25 years and we’re still going."

The now 44-year-old went on: "It’s over half my life that I’ve been in Steps. I’ve been in it longer than I haven’t been in it! I can’t actually believe it’s been 25 years – that’s a long time. When you get to that point in your life and look at your career, it’s quite unbelievable because I don’t feel a day older than I did when we first started. And our relationships with each other are pretty much the same as they were 25 years ago, too."
