ITV This Morning viewers all say the same thing as Holly and Phil joined by robot

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield opened ITV's This Morning, on Thursday, May 18, with the help of the world's most advanced robot - and viewers were all left saying the same thing about the segment which comes amid rumours of a feud between the two co-hosts.

Introducing the show, the robot began: "Hello, and welcome to your Thursday This Morning. This is the UK's number one daytime show as presented by Phillip and Holly. There's so much coming up today on the show. I can't wait for you to hear all about it."

As the robot, whose name is Ameca and was created by Engineered Arts, concluded her opener, Holly and Phil were left aghast and shocked at just how advanced this robot is, with Holly exclaiming: "It's slightly freaking me out!"

She said: "This is Ameca, who has been called the world's most advanced robot. They will be joining us on the sofa a little bit later on for a full on interview. I am not sure when they turn the head and look us right in the eye..."

"It's just shrugged," Phil added, before Holly continued: "It is amazing. It's slightly freaking me out. I'm not going to lie. I'm not sure."

And while Holly and Phil were impressed and scared in equal measure at this introduction, viewers had some other opinions about the robot joining the pair on the sofa.

Taking to Twitter, This Morning fans wrote: "Is the robot Philip and Holly’s replacement?"

@MissLionHeart added: "The robot is better than Phil and Holly combined #ThisMorning," while @GroovyGail57 commented: "It that Holly & Schofields replacement? I'm good with that #robot #ThisMorning".

A fourth added: "Keep the robot?! #ThisMorning"

These comments come amid an ongoing rumoured feud between the two presenters, who have always seemed chummy and close. Read more on that here.

Other viewers were in agreement with Holly and Phil's shock reaction over this incredible technology: "That thing is sooo creepy & dead behind the eyes - the robot is kinda cool though #ThisMorning," said one.

Another penned: "#ThisMorning robot look to real I would be scared those eyes."
