Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes probably didn't expect to find themselves crawling around the This Morning studio floor when they headed to work this morning.
The presenters were back at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Tuesday (May 10) as Rochelle continued to fill in for Phillip's usual co-host, Holly Willoughby. The 60-year-old TV star explained on Monday (May 9) that Rochelle will be on the show all week while Holly, 41, focuses on hosting another ITV show, The Games, which airs live every night this week.
But the latest episode got off the a confusing start with the presenting duo seen on their hands and knees and facing away from camera as they scrambled on the floor, appearing to be looking for something.
Talking between themselves, Rochelle, 33, could be heard telling her co-star: "It is actually under there. It's dusty." Turning back to camera, the former Saturdays star, who risked getting her white waistcoat and trouser co-ord dirty, then explained the pair had "had a small issue."
Phillip added: "Rochelle's earpiece just fell out and shot straight underneath there," pointing to the back of the studio where the faux windows sit. Rochelle then claimed to have a "big ear hole" and "baggy ear" which caused the unfortunate error.
Phil then joked the earpiece had fallen "where the This Morning mouse lives," before later saying: "I'll tell you what though, they're never going to get that out and that's going to cost you a fortune because they're expensive. That's why I have the really old fashioned one which is much cheaper. It's just like life is always an issue."
Rochelle then revealed the This Morning sound department are "very good" and had managed to give her a replacement earpiece just seconds before the show began. "So thank you everybody," she added before taking a breath and welcoming viewers to the latest show as her co-host laughed.
It's the second blunder the singer-turned-presenter has suffered so far this week. On Monday's show, which marked her return to the programme since before Christmas when she hosted alongside Bolton's own Vernon Kay, Rochelle was left red-faced when she and Phillip were poised ready to interview Dr Sara Kayat as part of a tackling belly fat segment.
As they prepared to start their chat, the host's golden bangle fell from her wrist and it caused a bit of commotion in the studio as it hit a gold ceramic chair on its way to the ground. "What was that? Was that your bangle?" Phillip asked his co-host to she replied: "Do you know what? I think I have to give up the bangle dream. It's time."
She picked it up on the floor and placed it in the fruit bowl in front of them as Phil sarcastically added: "That wasn't even remotely distracting. If it was a pre-recorded show, I'd ask the question again."
