ITV This Morning fans despair as they make observation amid Jay Blades and Roman Kemp's appearance

This Morning fans didn't appear too thrilled as they made an observation after Jay Blades and Roman Kemp both appeared on the show. But the issue wasn't with the guest as such. Both The Repair Shop star and Capital FM DJ appeared live on the ITV daytime programme on Tuesday (October 18) to chat to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

Jay was on the show to chat about his new book, DIY with Jay, which is described as an 'accessible and entertaining guide' to making those fixes in your home - and Alison was quick to heap praise on Jay's latest work. But the conversation soon turned to discussing the upcoming special of The Repair Shop to mark 100 years of the BBC.

It was previously revealed that King Charles will appear on the much-loved programme, filmed before he became monarch following the late Queen's death last month. And Jay, who’s an ambassador for The Prince’s Foundation, has now revealed that he actually turned the then Prince of Wales down for a ‘sleepover’ at Dumfries House three times, before finally accepting the invite.

"He invited me, probably three times, to go to Dumfries House, just to have a look around and have a sleepover," Jay recalled to the This Morning hosts. "But I was so busy I turned him down three times. And then I said to the missus, “Look, the fourth invitation came, we can’t ignore this one. I’ll be kicked out the country."

He added: "So I went up there, filmed with him, and it was just a joy because basically, someone like me, from a council estate, and someone like him, from the Royal estate, we’ve both have the same interest."

Later in the show, Roman appeared live on the famous sofa to also chat about his new book, Roman Kemp: Are You Really OK?, which is released later this month. But during the poignant interview, radio and TV star Roman revealed he hopes others can be 'the hero' to their friends, believing he was not one to his late friend Joe Lyons.

Joe, who had been a well-loved producer at Global radio for nine years, died by suicide in August 2020. Roman was left heartbroken by Joe's death because he hadn't known anything was wrong. "If I had been [a hero] he would be here," the 29-year-old told Alison and Dermot. "I want people be a hero to their friend like I know I wasn’t to mine."

While Alison and Dermot showed him their support, Roman went on to say: "It's OK to look at yourself and think what more could I have done."

Despite the moving topic of conversation, This Morning viewers couldn't help but spot a theme from recent programmes. Last week, multiple celebrity guests appeared on the show to promote their latest books - including Sir David Jason and Michael Ball. And it's left them in a bit of despair.

@ChantelO26 tweeted: "Not another book. #ThisMorning," alongsdie a GIF of Simon Cowell putting his head in his hands. @SmokeyToes76 posted: "Yet another book to flog incoming #ThisMorning." @ChantelO26 complained: "Oh fgs is there anyone on this show not flogging a book? Like people have got money to spare? To buy all these chuffin’ books. #ThisMorning."

@onlysmols said following Monday's show: "Our houses are going to look like the local Waterstones if we bought all these books they are trying to flog us #ThisMorning." @criticaltv1 asked: "Has anyone ever bought a book advertised on this show??? #thismorning." @Boppity_Boo34 added: "You can tell xmas is coming up all the celebs have written a book #ThisMorning."
