The drama which has followed Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield being accused of 'queue jumping' at Westminster Hall, during the period the late Queen was Lying in State, continues to rumble on. The ITV presenters faced a public backlash with some even signing a petition to have the pair axed from their morning show.
ITV has been forced to release a statement clarifying they were there in a professional capacity with "press accreditation", insisting: "They did not file past The Queen's coffin." Adding: "Any allegations of improper behaviour are categorically untrue." The duo have also released a statement clarifying their position and insisting they "understood" the anger people felt but said they went for everyone who "couldn't go".
Fans, however, are still annoyed about the incident. Holly and Phillip appeared on Tuesday's (September 20) This Morning after the show took a break so ITV could cover the Queen's funeral on Monday, September 19, reported Leicestershire Live. They started the episode by addressing the backlash in a VT of the Queen's funeral and Lying-in-State, Holly said: "We were given special permission," adding: "Please know that we would never jump a queue!"
