This Morning viewers couldn't believe what they were seeing as The Speakmans returned to the show but in a way they've never been seen before. While they weren't live in the studio with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on Wednesday (October 12), the hosting duo revealed Nik and Eva's new series.
The Speakmans in La La Land sees the life therapists as they meet a host of American celebrities in a bid to help them with their various issues. The first episode aired on today's edition of the ITV daytime show saw them meet music star and former Pussycat Doll Carmit Bachar.
After years of childhood bullying and countless surgeries following a birth defect of a cleft lip and cleft palate, Carmit revealed how she is still struggling with her own self-image.
She said in the emotional segment: "I spent a lot of time being ridiculed as a child… it definitely leaves you insecure and my biggest fear was when I had my daughter. I was terrified that she was going to be born with the same thing and go through what I went through."
After her session with Nik and Eva, Carmit said: "When the cameras stopped rolling, Eva said 'Don’t insult the little girl that is a superhero' and that really landed for me…"
Despite the moving session with Carmit to kick off the series, Nik and Eva decided to share their excitement of working with her by finding time to record a remake of the iconic Pussycat Dolls video for their single, Don’t Cha. The couple dressed up to recreate the girl group’s hit, with Nik channeling Busta Rhymes who featured on the track and Eva giving her best Nicole Scherzinger impression.
Following their session with Carmit, the cameras returned to show Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, in the studio but they couldn't resist seeing The Speakman's musical efforts and the show replayed the clip with a frame-by-frame comparison to the original 2008 song.
And it appears to have caused a divide among This Morning viewers with some left 'speechless' and others begging it to 'stop'. @DavidMackayy tweeted: "The speakmans in that music video.. my toes are curled #thismorning," before adding: "Genuinely speechless after watching that on #thismorning.." @EllenRachael said: "#ThisMorning OMG!! Just no!!!"
@BetLynchsFag commented: "The Speakmans reenacting a PussyCatDolls video has made me want to gouge my eyes out #ThisMorning." @EnfieldGarry posted: "The Speakmans doing Pussycat Dolls, oh my eyes. #ThisMorning." @Laura_Newton560 added: "I think I'm still asleep experiencing a hell hole of a nightmare WTF was that! #ThisMorning."
But @I_Dont_Know_Her disagreed with other viewers and said: "I've just watched The Speakmans recreate the Don't Cha music video on This Morning and I'm obsessed." @ForeverOUFC commented: "Is it weird that I actually liked that Pussycat Dolls parody by The Speakmans haha i want to watch it again!! #thismorning."
