ITV The Masked Singer fans issue warning to Claire from Steps after she "tries to throw them off the scent"

The Masked Singer is the celeb guessing game that has had the nation playing armchair detectives every Saturday night. Stars sing in disguise, wearing elaborate costumes, as panellists Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan and Rita Ora and fans watching at home attempt to work out who they are.

In last night's show (January 14) married couple Martin and Shirlie Kemp became the first duo to be unmasked. Characters still in the running on the ITV singing contest include Knitting, and fans are absolutely convinced they know who it is, saying the powerful voice is "unmistakable."

Viewers also reckon the clues dished out on the show also point to Steps singer Claire Richards, whose huge hits include 5,6,7,8, One For Sorrow and Last Thing On My Mind. @WelshGirlSarah9 tweeted: "5678 was a clue in week one. The clue 'count all of your stitches, there should be 26'. 5678 adds up to 26." Other fans reckon the character itself is a clue because Claire, 45, won the show The Great British Sewing Bee in 2021.

However, Claire has also been guessing with everyone else on Twitter and put forward her own suggestion for Knitting. "#knitting Jane Macdonald!" she exclaimed.

But fans were having none of it and accused her of trying to throw them off the scent. @ACurtoistennis said: "Sorry, to me, only one voice sounds like that. Amazing & unmistakable." And @fergalukeciouss warned: "Gurrrrrrrl. After that. Do not even TRY it. That iconic voice."

@scarlet_43 exclaimed: "Trying to put us off the scent Claire!" An amused @tracybnbell told her: "Look at you trying to make us think its not you!!!!! Every 90s 00s kid KNOWS it's you." And @MatthewFoster20 said: "Trying to put us off the scent that it is you."

@deanleake02 messaged: "Nice try Claire- we all know it’s you you’re fabulous!!! Xx" And @BooknerdZara said: "I’ve seen you live 4 times… I recognise that voice, girl!"
