The Chase star Anne Hegerty has revealed she's had to step down from appearing in the forthcoming series of Beat The Chasers, after catching coronavirus.
The 63-year-old - who's known as The Governess on the ITV quiz show - explained she was ruled out of filming its spin-off in a tweet which read, "Unfortunately I’ve contracted Covid-19 so won’t be filming this series of #BeatTheChasers."
Anne, who worked as a journalist in Newport during the early '80s, told fans she was being replaced on the shoots by the bowtie-wearing Issa Schultz, one of the stars of the Australian version of The Chase and seven-time winner of the Australian Quizzing Championships.

"The fantastic @Issa25 will be stepping in for me and I’m looking forward to watching the series when it’s on air later this year. I feel fine, but I'm still positive! (in all respects)," she added.
Viewers were quick to jump online and wish her all the best. "Aww bless you Anne," posted one, while another added, "Aww, sorry to hear this Anne. I hope you get better soon. You will be missed terribly but Issa won’t let you down, he’ll absolutely smash it."
While retaining Bradley Walsh as host, Beat The Chasers differs from The Chase in that, instead of competing against one of the Chasers, contestants face head-to-head challenges with each of them.
