ITV The Chase's Darragh Ennis admits he's afraid of Scouse nan quizzer

A Liverpool contestant on today's episode of The Chase struck fear into the heart of Darragh Ennis.

The Menace was taking on four new players on Wednesday's edition of the popular ITV gameshow.

Bradley Walsh welcomed Bob, Kate, Bernice and Adam, who were testing their wits in a bid to win a cash prize.

Bob in seat 1 booked his place in the Final Chase with £3,000, before Darragh put in an impressive performance to catch Kate.

Bernice was up next and the retired teacher from Waterloo wanted to treat her grandchildren to a trip to Lapland with any winnings.

The 68-year-old had taught Geography - and said she has enjoyed Scrabble, crosswords and travelling since retiring.

This prompted Darragh to admit she met all the criteria to be a Chaser's worst nightmare.

He said: "We've had a military expert, a Master's graduate, but if there's one thing the Chasers fear, it's a well-travelled retired teacher."

The Menace's concerns were realised when Bernice put in a formidable showing to bank £8,000 before confidently progressing to the last round.

The Chaser took to Twitter to comment on her impressive performance.

He tweeted : "Isn't Bernice great?"

Bernice and Bob were joined by Adam and the team were competing for a grand total of £16,000 in the Final Chase.

They built up 18 steps in the last round, but were caught with 20 seconds remaining - meaning they left empty-handed.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
