ITV The Chase's Bradley Walsh ordered to 'steady' after he smashes set

Bradley Walsh was ordered to "steady" by a contestant after he accidentally smashed the set on The Chase.

The 61-year-old presenter welcomed four new quizzers on Wednesday's edition of the ITV game show. Helen, Max, Emma and Jonny were testing their wits against Mark Labbett in a bid to win a cash prize.

Helen was up in seat one and the retired administrator put in a confident showing to book her place in the Final Chase with £7,000. Max was up in seat two and opted to take the higher offer of £35,000 as he attempted to join Helen in the final round.

The 48-year-old engaged in a tense head-to-head with the Beast as he tried to add the whopping total to the overall total. Bradley was excitedly rooting for the player and got caught up in the moment when he knew Max had answered another correct question.

He asked: "Which of these counties borders the other two?" The options were Gloucestershire, Hampshire and Wiltshire and the host was elated when Max opted for Wiltshire.

However, Bradley smacked the set with excitement and confessed he had broken the podium. He said: "I’ve cracked it. I'm so sorry.”

Max told Bradley to "steady" as The Beast was left in hysterics. The Chaser eventually recovered and proceeded to eliminate Max from the show.

Helen, Jonny and Emma all progressed to the Final Chase and were competing for a huge £75,000. They built up 14 steps and were caught with 27 seconds remaining

The Chase airs weekdays from 5pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
