Bradley Walsh was quick to defend a player from Anne Hegerty's harsh tongue on tonight's The Chase.
The host welcomed four new players to test their wits against the quizmaster in hopes of going home slightly richer. Rob, Dimitra, Fran and Steve worked together to take on the chaser.
But Anne seemed especially harsh on one player tonight. She repeatedly insulted the intelligence of Fran, a 25-year-old from Cheshire - but Bradley wasn't standing for it.

The first two players, Rob and Dimitra, flew through their cash builders and head to head with the chaser. They racked up an impressive £13,000 between them for the final prize pot.
Next up was Fran, who didn't do quite as well as the others which led to Anne thinking she was a "weak link." The chaser was confident that she would see the contestant fail.
As Fran accepted a middle offer of £4,000, Anne said: "In most games £4,000 would be a very decent cash builder. Here, it's making you look like the team dummy." Bradley gasped as he said: "Take no notice don't listen to that. Block it out."
But the chaser was proven wrong as she failed to catch the player and the assistant psychologist secured a place in the final. Anne said: "Yeah this is so annoying, there isn't a weak link in the team. Fran is the closest there's been to a weak link but she's very good as well."
Bradley stood up for the player as he said: "I don't think you're a weak link at all. I think you've got knowledge now that they will need in the final."
It turned out to be the final player, 67-year-old retiree Steve, who was the weak link. He had a poor cash builder round and then was caught by the chaser sending him home with nothing. The rest of the team went on to the final chase playing for a grand total of £17,000.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
