ITV The Chase contestant apologises as she leaves team-mate 'seething'

A contestant on today's edition of the Chase apologised after she sparked a "seething" response from a team-mate.

Bradley Walsh welcomed four quizzers on Wednesday's edition of the popular ITV game show. Jill, James, Malcolm and Kat were testing their wits against Shaun Wallace in a bid to win a cash prize.

The Chaser started off in dominant form as he eliminated Jill from the show. However, James and Malcolm responded strongly to book their place in the last round for a total of £6,000.

Kat was the final contestant to take on the Chaser and built up £2,000 in her cash-builder. The player had encouraged two of her team-mates to go for the higher amount, but opted to take a minus £1,000.

James was visibly disappointed by the decision and Bradley addressed the player's response.

He said: "Look at James' face. It says it all."

Kat proceeded to book her place in the last round, which took the team's total down to £5,000. Bradley once again addressed James' response, but defended Kat's decision.

He said: "However, despite James' gaze boiling holes into the back of your head, let me tell you. If you beat The Chaser by one, you're in. Simple as that."

Kat apologised as she returned to the podium and shook James' hand. Bradley joked she would be "off the Christmas card list" and viewers following the show on Twitter took to the social media platform in hysterics after the exchange.

Steph said: "James is seething"

Tooney added: "James is FUMING."

Delfy commented : "#james is fuming...i feel his pain"

Sarah tweeted: "James' face when she took a minus offer"

The team built up 13 steps in the last round, but were caught by The Chaser with 24 seconds remaining - meaning they left empty-handed.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and ITV Hub
