While she never mentioned her talent show past, it didn't take viewers of Starstruck long to recognise contestant Treyc Cohen as a former X Factor star, famous for her 'iconic' exchange with Cheryl.
A surprise ratings hit last year and a real Saturday night guilty pleasure for fans, Starstruck launched its second series on Saturday night, right after The Masked Singer final, which was won by Charlie Simpson as Rhino. There is a big change on the judging panel for Starstruck's latest run, as music megastar Shania Twain replaces Sheridan Smith, to sit alongside Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight and Jason Manford.
As Olly Murs returned as host, the panel had to give their verdicts on four different sets of soundalikes, including fans of Sam Smith, Taylor Swift and Tom Jones. The fourth and final set of singers to take to the stage on Saturday night's Starstruck were all honouring Chaka Khan and one of those was Treyc.
In her intro VT, Treyc mentioned being in the West End in shows like Hairspray and The Lion King but didn't mention the thing viewers at home knew her for - being a contestant on X Factor back in 2010. Treyc made it all the way to the live shows that year and, while she delivered some brilliant performances, it's a conversation with her mentor Cheryl that lives long in the memory of many fans, who still quote it on a regular basis nearly 13 years later.
As she got set to sing for Cheryl at Judges Houses, the Girls Aloud star told Treyc: "Whenever you're ready," to which the singer replied: "I'm ready," prompting Cheryl to tell her: "You said that with some determination!"
Clocking Treyc from X Factor straight away, one viewer took to Twitter to post: "I have #starstruck on and I’m looking at one of the contestants like… I know you? I’ve seen you before? It’s the icon Treyc from X Factor “I’m ready” I quote this moment on the daily," with a second tweeting: "TreyC was ready, she said that with some determination and she performed whenever she was ready"
