This ITV star looks a world away from the polished professional we're used to seeing in a hilarious throwback photo.
The media mogul, 63, is best known for his immaculately groomed beard and tailored trousers, but in an unearthed snap, he's unrecognisable.
On Saturday night's Britain's Got Talent, Bruno Tonioli told Amanda Holden that Simon Cowell used to have long locks during the show on Saturday, but the multi-millionaire begged his pal not to Google it.
However, the photo has now been found - and it's quite something.
Rocking a tight white t.shirt, the father-of-one sports fabulously full shoulder length hair and a bushy moustache.
It's a far cry from the high-waisted slacks and coiffed hair we associate Simon with today, which have made him a household name.
The star may have wished he wasn't quite so pristine after the latest episode of BGT.
When Mr Blobby rocked up on stage, intent on causing chaos, Simon ended up covered in pink slime.
He was asked to get into a disappearing box by the Noel's House Party star, with Amanda, Alesha and Bruno looking on in shock.
However the X Factor mogul seemed distinctly unimpressed as the bright pink slime cascaded onto him.
Blobby helped Simon out of the chair, before trying to give him a hug - but the entrepreneur refused.
"Don't touch me, don't go near me," Simon said, as the others laughed while encouraging the audience to get involved.
Amanda told Simon he still looked really handsome as he squelched back to the desk with fans at home taking to Twitter in stitches.
One wrote: "mr blobby sliming simon cowell was peak television."
While another said: "Simon Cowell getting gunged on TV is the funniest thing I've seen in years!"
The winner of Britain's Got Talent will perform for King Charles later this year.
Speaking about the monarch's reaction to the class act, Simon said: "There are times where I just can’t stop laughing because it’s like the poor guy could end up seeing a guy who is blowing darts out with his bum and bursting things! What is he going to think?
"The other part of me was sad because of all the years we’ve been doing it, we had the Queen.
"It was difficult actually, when I kept hearing people talk about the King instead of the Queen, it takes a while to get used to that.
"At one point we joked, ‘There goes my knighthood’, when one act blew candles out with his bottom.”
