Vera will finally make its return to screens later this month and will be back in sinister style, with first new episode concentrating on the grisly murder of a local GP.
It's been close to a year since there have been any new episodes of the long running and much loved crime drama on ITV, with it being pulled from its usual 8pm Sunday night slot after just a fortnight last February, to make away for a new series of The Good Karma Hospital and the debut of terrorist thriller Trigger Point, starring Line of Duty favourite Vicky McLure.
The pulling of Vera from the schedules came months after the same thing happened following the broadcast of the first two episodes of series 11. The episodes shown at the start of 2022 were three and four, meaning that fans have now had to wait almost 12 months to see the remaining two, despite them being available on Briton in America for ages.

Well now, the wait is very nearly over as Vera will return to ITV on Sunday, January 15 at 8pm, right after the launch of the new series of Dancing on Ice. Brenda Blethyn is back to lead the cast across six different episodes, the first two being the 'missing' parts from series 11 and the following four being the first few from the recently wrapped series 12.
And a teaser has surfaced online about what viewers can expect from the January 15 episode called Vital Signs. It reads: "DCI Stanhope is called out to a grim scene when a body found in the back of a burnt-out car and the victim is identified as a popular local GP.
"The detective's investigation leads her into a world of intrigue, betrayal and lust, when she learns that the doctor's relationships with those that knew her were anything but healthy."
The return of Vera to ITV comes after the show's leading actors, Brenda and co-star Kenny Doughty, picked up an Entertainment Daily award for Best Detective Duo.
