Just as we're all getting used to having her back in our lives again, Vera's current run will come to an end on Sunday night, in dramatic fashion with The Darkest Evening.
Millions of viewers are set to tune into ITV to see Vera bow out for a while, in another feature length episode, the fourth of series 12, which will see Brenda Blethyn's famous character have to confront her past, after being caught up in a violent storm and finding a baby abandoned in a car.
The Darkest Evening is the sixth new episode of Vera to air this year, after disgruntled fans were kept waiting for close to a year to find out what happened to the last two parts of series 11. The new shows have seen lead actress Brenda Blethyn and co-stars like Kenny Doughty, Jon Morrison and Riley Jones joined by a host of guest stars, including a former Peak Practice actor and an 80s TV icon.
