ITV's Susanna Reid shares sad news of GMB colleague's death as she takes break from show

While she is absent from the show this week, Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid shared a tribute to colleague Paul Dorrian after the sad news that he had passed away after almost 30 years of working for ITV.

As she typically does during school holidays, main presenter Susanna is taking leave from GMB as many schools across the country break for half term.

She is being replaced by Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins this week, with Richard Madeley continuing his run as main co-host.

On Monday, Ranvir broke the news that popular crew member Paul had died, saying: "As you know, the show just isn't what it is without the talented team who work behind the scenes, who get everything on air for us every morning.

"And it is with real sadness in our hearts this morning, that we have to say we've lost one of our really beloved colleagues this weekend.

Paying tribute to Paul, Ranvir added: "The very lovely Paul Dorrian was a programme organiser and it says what it does on the tin. He literally worked day and night to make sure our technical facilities worked and the show got on air.

"A very trusted and loved member of our GMB family. He was here for nearly three decades, from the early days of GMTV, knows everybody here. A kind and loving man."

GMB's political producer Anne Alexander shared a clip of Ranvir's tribute along with the words: "Paul was the kindest, most gentle person, in an industry where such qualities can sometimes be undervalued. But he was really valued and loved at GMB.

"We are all desperately sad."

Absent presenter Susanna retweeted the post to her 856,000 followers, who were quick to react, with one replying: "My thoughts are with Paul's Family friend's and colleagues at GMB."

A second wrote: "RIP Paul"
