ITV's Susanna Reid backed by Good Morning Britain viewers for 'taking down' Nigel Farage

Susanna Reid received the firm backing of Good Morning Britain viewers over her 'take down' of Nigel Farage on Wednesday's Good Morning Britain, as the two clashed in a heated spat live on air.

Long-serving ITV presenter Susanna and her colleague Richard Madeley were joined in the studio by former UKIP leader Farage, after he dropped strong hints he would be keen to join forces with former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, to defend their Brexit "legacy." Farage was put on the spot by Susanna about his apparent political plans, with the presenter getting to admit that Brexit had 'failed' in the eyes of many voters.

Farage blamed the Government for the failings, forcing Susanna to ask: "And yet, you want to join up with the Prime Minister who was responsible for that failure?" Standing strong on his own stance, Farage replied: "I repeat the point; I disagree totally with him on immigration. They should have delivered on what people voted for; he didn't do it alright? I disagree with him on net zero - making the poor poorer - but..." as Susanna interrupted: "What do you agree with him on?"

Farage told her: "Us being an independent country and not being part of a political unit in Europe?" Taken aback by his response, Susanna screwed her face up and retorted: "Sorry, who screwed up Brexit?" Farage replied: "Boris Johnson has messed up the implementation of it, yes," as Susanna pushed him again, asking: "Why would you want to go into partnership with him," getting the response: "Because, I think, in two or three years time, we may have to re-fight this battle."

GMB viewers were quick to side with Susanna, with one taking to Twitter to post: "Good to see excellent Susanna Reid reducing Nigel Farage to rubble & didn't need to get out of first gear to do it," with a second tweeting: "Susanna Reid took Farage apart this morning on his opportunistic pairing with a man he openly acknowledges has done a terrible job in power."
