Talented singer Rachael Hawnt has won ITV's Starstruck competition performing songs as Cher - beating her competition of Freddie Mercury, Tina Turner and Billie Eilish impersonators to take home a whopping £50,000 cash prize.
The Southsea singer did such a good job with her rendition of the superstar's song 'Believe' that judge Jason Manford said: "That is not Rachael as Cher, that is Cher as Rachael", whilst fellow judge Adam Lambert added: "I felt like I was in front of Cher again. You have her vocal down to a T and you look gorgeous."
The show, which is presented by Olly Murs and judged by Lambert and Manford, together with Sheridan Smith and Beverley Knight, sees teams of super fans transform into their idol for a very special performance. In each episode, four teams of three members took to the stage to perform a hit song from their music idol, with each person in the team singing a section of the song. After a winning team was announced, there was another performance featuring the three super fans from that team and just one of them was then selected to go through to the grand final, which took place tonight.
Many on social media were delighted with the result, including Daniel Brown, who wrote: "A great end to Starstruck , well done Rachael well deserved. This has been a great bit of fun to have on Saturday nights, and we’ve seen some really talented people along the way. Thanks to all involved."
And Michelle Pryde added: "Oh my God! Rachel won! She was incredible so I’m thrilled. My favourite since she performed for that first time."
But others were less than happy with the result. Sam Walker wrote: "What a fix. I think they need to get booked into Specsavers for a hearing and eye check!"
And India Willoughby wrote: "Mmm. Needs a public vote - not just the studio audience. Congrats to the winner."
