ITV's Starstruck final result 'ruined' as winner revealed on YouTube before end of show

Starstruck fans were left seething with ITV on Saturday night, after the result of the talent show's final appeared online before it was announced on TV.

A guilty pleasure for many viewers, Starstruck rounded out its second series this weekend, as soundalikes of Adele, Ed Sheeran, Beyonce, Sam Cooke and Tom Jones, battled it out for a £50,000 cash prize.

Each of the final contestants had already seen off competition from fellow impersonators of the same artist to make it through to the grand finale, so the pressure was on for them to deliver against other top tier tributes and clinch victory.

After all of the finalists had performed and judges Jason Manford, Beverley Knight, Adam Lambert and Shania Twain had given their critiques, it was down to the studio audience to pick their Starstruck winner and, in the end, they went for Abbie Edwards as Adele.

But, while many fans took to Twitter to declare Abbie as 'worthy winner,' the timeline quickly became full of posts from disgruntled viewers who had found out the result before it was revealed on ITV, thanks to a post on the broadcaster's YouTube channel.

Angry at having the final result spoiled for them, one viewer fumed: "WTF @ITV @ITVX how come the winner has been announced on YouTube of Starstruck before it’s even been aired in ITV! What a joke!" Equally annoyed, a second tweeted: "@ITV thanks a lot For releasing the winner Early on @YouTube #Starstruck You’ve just ruined it @ITV."

Being slightly less enraged, a third quipped: "ITV posting the winner on Youtube before the end of the show is their way of say ‘Who gives a f**k?’…"
