ITV's Ruth Dodsworth talks about ex-husband being released from prison after he was found guilty of coercive behaviour and stalking

Appearing this morning (May 5) on Good Morning Britain ahead of her television programme set to air tonight, ITV weather presenter Ruth Dodsworth has spoken out about the coercive control she endured for nine years at the hands of her ex-husband. In the programme, the 46-year-old broadcaster will explore the form of abuse which is now considered a crime and her own experience in a controlling marriage in a new TV programme.

Speaking this morning she said: "This is a man I spent 20 years of my life with. He's the father of my children and here I am effectively sending him to prison." She added: "A man who to the best of my knowledge has shown no remorse - my worry is a restraining order is just a bit of paper, a tag doesn't really matter."

In Controlled By My Partner? The Hidden Abuse, previously unseen police footage will be shown of the moment Ms Dodsworth’s ex-husband was arrested. Nightclub owner Jonathan Wignall was sentenced to three years in prison last April after he pleaded guilty to stalking and coercive control.
