The show that brought us the likes of Will Young and Gareth Gates could be coming back to screens - 20 years after being taken off air.
Pop Idol was first released in 2001 and although the talent show only aired for two seasons, it brought some of the biggest voices to the early noughties. Now, two decades after it ended the show could be making a comeback.
Broadcaster ITV are rumoured to be in 'early stage talks' about bringing back the show, which launched the impressive careers of many singers. Will Young, now 43, triumphed on series one in 2001, releasing single Evergreen, while Gareth Gates, 37, finished in second place, and Michelle McManus, 41, went on to win the second season in 2003.

Speculation of the shows return was caused by TVUKZone, who tweeted yesterday: "I can confirm that ITV ARE in talks to revive Pop Idol, 20 years after it finished on TV in 2003.
"A revival is not confirmed yet, but with @tvukzone, we can verify that they are looking at a return."
Original creator Simon Fuller - the brainchild behind the likes of the Spice Girls, S Club 7, Annie Lennox and the US version of the show, American Idol - is said to be involved and ITV would like the programme to air for a special run next autumn to mark 20 years since it was last on UK television.
ITV has recently spoken out to say that although "absolutely nothing is confirmed", it is understood that talks are said to be at an "early stage".
