ITV's Paul O'Grady left 'emotional' in heart-wrenching For The Love of Dogs return

Paul O'Grady looks visibly moved in a first look of the final series of For The Love of Dogs, which will start on ITV on Thursday, two weeks after the much loved star's death.

In the early hours of Wednesday, March 29, the sad news broke that much loved entertainer and staunch activist Paul had passed away at the age of 67, with Paul's husband Andre Portasio telling the world: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening. We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.

“He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion. I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”

ITV quickly confirmed a special tribute show to Paul, For The Love of Paul O'Grady, which left many viewers in tears when it aired on Easter Sunday and they look set to be left equally emotional by the last ever episodes of For The Love of Dogs, which will get going on Thursday at 8.30pm.

Ahead of the first one debuting on screen, ITV released a teaser showing Paul on location at London' famous Battersea Dogs Home, with the late star and huge animal lover seen cuddling into a dog and looking misty eyed as he gazes into the camera and says: "I love him."

In another scene, Paul is seen watching two dogs play together, commenting: "Look at the pair of them!" Now, that does your heart good.,"

A synopsis for the first 30 minute episode of the new series teases: 'This week Paul falls head over heels with a gorgeous Newfoundland who needs major life changing surgery on her back legs. He meets a lab cross who’s totally obsessed with water and keeps flooding her kennel, and helps a terrified bichon frise, who was found wandering around a forest, become less scared of the world."
