There was a lot of curiosity surrounding ITV on Sunday night as millions of viewers tuned in to get their first look at medical thriller Malpractice.
The chilling and rather unnerving trailers for Malpractice have been on heavy rotation on the channel for weeks and, after some significant hype, it was finally time for its launch in the primetime Sunday night slot previously filled by the likes of Vera, Grace and, most recently, The Hunt for Raoul Moat.
A preview for the drama's first episode read: "Experienced A&E doctor Lucinda Edwards is in the middle of a nightmare shift, with a gunshot victim and an opioid overdose patient who both need a bed in resus, but there's only room for one of them. When one of the patients dies, Lucinda realises her troubles have only just begun as investigators are tasked with assessing whether she is fit to practise medicine."
The Malpractice cast is led by BAFTA nominee and Deceit star, Niamh Algar, but there are some other familiar faces involved too.

Commenting on taking the lad tole, Niamh said: "I’m thrilled to be a part of this project. I was blown away by Grace Ofori-Attah's script and the team attached in creating Malpractice. I’m a huge fan of Phil Barantini’s work, his movie Boiling Point is an astonishing piece of work and I’m so excited to see how he approaches Malpractice. I’m absolutely over the moon that we are working together on this special series."
