ITV's Lorraine was unexpectedly pulled off air today, Thursday, July 7. The popular morning show host was in the midst of interviewing JLS star Aston Merrygold.
As events in parliament quickly unfolded, and news that Boris Johnson would resign as the UK's Prime Minster broke, the show was abruptly interrupted. Lorraine told her guest: 'I'm very sorry about that, you need to come back', and the ITV schedule was cleared as breaking news took over.
Lorraine Kelly swiftly handed the show over to ITV news reporting from Downing Street. The news team then took the reins for the next 30 minutes, reported Liverpool Echo. But viewers weren't happy about the intrusion and Lorraine has now responded to a viewer's complaint, saying it wasn't her fault.

The news report explained that the Prime Minister was expected to announce his resignation at lunchtime. At 10am, This Morning with Holly and Phil followed its usual schedule but Lorraine never returned to air following the report.
Social media erupted. "You know it's a serious situation when they take Lorraine off air", said one Twitter user, but others weren't so calm. "Shocking that half your show was cancelled, Lorraine", said one person, while another quipped: "Who's Lorraine?" referring to Boris Johnson's previous remark in an interview.
Taking to Twitter, the presenter finally broke her silence on the topic, stating it wasn't her decision. Lorraine said: "Not my decision Amy. Back tomorrow as usual at 9am - hope to see you then."
Throughout Lorraine's show, she had a back and forth with a "psychic pig" that was expected to relay information on when the Prime Minister would resign. Ironically, the pig was correct as he 'said' today would be the day. She praised the pig for his apparent psychic abilities and asked viewers never to question his intelligence again.
She said: "You may scoff but just want to point out that right after psychic pig appeared on my show Boris finally resigned. Pigs are extremely canny and intelligent, No one can overcome the power of a psychic pig."
