ITV's Lorraine Kelly storms into This Morning dressing room for Phillip Schofield surprise

Lorraine Kelly was on a mission this morning as she sprung a surprise on Phillip Schofield.

It has been teased on ITV all weekend that Lorraine would be paying tribute to a broadcaster on her self-titled show on Monday morning.

And it turns out the person being surprised was close to home.

Following the end of Good Morning Britain, Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley through to Lorraine who wasn't in her usual studio.

She was in fact behind-the-scenes at ITV's studios at the Television Centre - specifically outside a This Morning dressing room.

The Scottish TV presenter, 62, then burst her way through the door unannounced, much to Phillip's surprise.

His co-host Holly Willoughby, however, wasn't as phased by Lorraine's appearance as she was in on the special show.

Lorraine then revealed to Phillip that her entire hour-long show was being dedicated to his 40 years in broadcasting.

The This Morning and Dancing On Ice presenter was visibly shocked as Lorraine and her camera crew appeared.

Returning from a break, Phillip was then seen sitting in Lorraine's studio.

He was soon back in familiar territory as he was joined by Holly, 40, on the sofa opposite Lorraine as the pair discussed hosting This Morning together for 13 years.

But Phil's original TV partner also made an appearance.

Ferne Britton, who Holly replaced on the ITV daytime show, sent in a video message for her former co-host.

There were also special messages from Richard and Judy, who started This Morning, as well as Ant and Dec and regular This Morning guest Miriam Margolyes.

Miriam also appeared live via video link.

As she disappeared off to let Phillip enjoy his moment, Holly then took to Instagram to share a gushing tribute to her friend and co-star.

"You have taught me so much, you have always been patient and generous with me… It’s been an honour to play a part in your TV story… "

Holly ended her post: "Love you to bits @schofe."
