Lorraine Kelly was totally blindsided on Tuesday when she was alerted to the fact that a dog who appeared on her show had made an 'escape' from cameras, in a moment that left her ITV colleague Holly Willoughby totally gobsmacked.
In her second show of the week, long-serving broadcaster Lorraine was joined by a variety of guests including One Direction star Niall Horan and singer Meghan Trainor, who spoke to her via video call from Australia, where she is currently working as a coach on The Voice.
But the undeniable star of the show was a dog, who while wasn;'t actually in the studio, grabbed all of the attention as Lorraine crossed live to a house in Bolton, for a segment about a Mother's Day competition. Lorraine's roving reporter sat with mum Kathy in her living room to talk about a £120,000 cash prize, completely unaware that the family's dog had made a successful break for freedom, having let itself out of the door and into the garden.

Listening in back in the studio, Lorraine had no idea that the dog had grabbed the limelight, until she crossed over to This Morning to get a preview of what was coming up on the show. But, rather than tease what she and Phillip Schofield had in store, Holly quickly changed the subject to alert Lorraine to what the dog had done.
Lorraine looked in shock as the clip of the dog escaping from the door playing out on screen, shouting "How did I miss that?" as Phillip gave Holly, who said that the moment 'blew her mind,' credit for spotting it. But, Holly's observation came after viewers had already flooded Twitter with their reactions.
One posted: "Seen the dog opening the door & going outside was wondering why @lorraine never mentioned it!" with a second tweeting: "did that dog just open the door!!! A call to BGT is required asap"
Having a joke at Lorraine's expense, a third reacted: "That dog that let itself out the door is the most exciting thing that's happened all show"
