ITV's Good Morning Britain was missing its regular host on Thursday, July 21. Kate Garraway is usually seen by viewers on the early morning news programme every Thursday and Friday alongside co-host Ben Shephard.
This morning Ben Shephard introduced the news headlines alongside Charlotte Hawkins as the pair took the reins of the show. However, they were quick to address the fact that Kate wasn't co-hosting, and sent her a message of support.
The regular morning host is reported to be taking time out after reports that husband Derek Draper, who has been battling the 'devastating' after effects of Covid, had taken a 'serious turn for the worse'.

Addressing Kate’s absence, Ben said: "We are missing a member of the team, aren’t we?" To which Charlotte replied: "We are yes". ‘So Kate’s not here. She’s taking some time out to be with Derek at the moment so we’re sending her lots of love."
Derek first contracted Covid back at the beginning of 2020 and spent 13 months in hospital. Returning home, Kate became his carer as well as continuing her presenting roles, however, it is understood that Derek continued to struggle with major health problems.
Kate is reported to now be by her husband's side after the former pollical advisor was taken back into hospital. A source previously told The Sun: "Derek has been taken back to hospital this morning in a very serious condition. The family are very worried about him but Derek is in the best hands."
On the morning show, Charlotte Hawkins continued: "Lots of you have been in touch with messages of support, so we wish him well." Ben added: "Thank you for those messages, we’ll definitely pass them on. You know how much Kate appreciates all the support that she gets and fingers crossed Derek will be home as soon as possible."
