ITV's Gino D'Acampo throws doubt on TV future after show axed by channel bosses

Gino D'Acampo has declared he doesn't 'really anymore ambition' to do more TV, after his culinary dating show Cooking Up Love was axed by ITV after just two episodes.

After a break from the spotlight to return to Italy, Gino recently made a return to This Morning, the show where has has been a resident chef on for years. Gino's other TV credits over the years have included Family Fortunes and Channel 5's Win Your Wish List. And although his return to This Morning will spawn mini series Simple Sardinia, he could be about to close the door on any other TV projects.

Speaking in the latest edition of Closer magazine, he commented: I was discovered by a producer as I was cooking, and he asked me to be on television and that's how it happened. I'm living someone else's dream."

Appearing to pour cold water on the prospect of doing any more TV, the popular chef and former I'm A Celebrity winner, added: “I do it because I enjoy it and I like watching television, but I don't really have any ambition to do more, not on TV,"

Gino made headlines earlier this year when he sensationally walked away from hit ITV show Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip, the show that has been entertaining millions of viewers since 2016, with Gino starring alongside Gordon Ramsay and First Dates favourite Fred Siriex.

Gino immediately shot down any suggestion that his decision could be down to a fall out between him and his co-stars as he blamed scheduling conflicts and added:: "Personal problems as well because when I have to change things with my family it is very complicated and also because contracts.

"Because contracts start to become very complicated and very stressful, I personally value the friendship with Gordon and Fred so much that I would rather the friendship than arguments with the contract."
