ITV's Britain's Got Talent final leaves viewers furious just seconds in after wildcard reveal

Britain's Got Talent fans hit hit out at the show's judges just seconds into Sunday's live final, with the panel being accused of 'wasting' their wildcard vote, to give 'pants guy' Tonikaku a shot at winning.

After months of auditions and this week's semi finals, just one performance stood between the remaining acts and the BGT 2023 crown, with bookies updating their odds with just hours to go, to make amputee dancer Musa Motha the hot favourite to triumph.

Other hopefuls left in the running included dance group Ghetto Kids, younger singers Malakai Boyah and Olivia Lynes and comedian Viggo Venn and, as in years gone by, there was plenty of mystery surrounding the identity of the final act in contention for the title, as the judges had to choose a wildard for the final.

It was down to Britain's Got Talent hosts Ant and Dec to break the news that it was Tonikaku who'd been selected and it didn't take long for Twitter to light up with reactions, many of them far from favourable. One fan blasted: "Out of all the acts they could’ve chosen as the Wildcard, they chose Tonikaku?!!!!!!!"

Equally unimpressed with the judges' decision, a second sarcastically tweeted: "Good to see they’ve used their wildcard well. So insulting to the actual talented contestants that didn’t get through" and a third posted: "Tonikaku is the wildcard??? What an absolute p**stake...why didn’t they bring back someone with actual talent???"

There was some support out there for Tonikaku though, with one very happy viewer posting: "YESSSSSS TONIKAKU GOT THE WILDCARD! THANK YOU SIMON!"
