ITV's Ant and Dec say campmate was 'close' to muttering 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' without being in trial

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly said they thought one campmate was close to saying 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here' - despite not evening being in a trial. The Geordie duo were back hosting the ITV reality show on Friday night (November 18) as viewers tuned into the latest jungle action.

It was another bumper episode with a Bushtucker trial, Dingo Dollar challenge AND the first elimination of the series. Charlene White was the first campmate to leave the jungle after receiving the fewest number of votes from the public.

The 42-year-old Loose Women star was up against Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver as Ant and Dec revealed one-by-one who was safe from the first vote-off of the 2022 series.

Charlene's exit came after the ITV News broadcaster and Boy George took on the latest Bushtucker trial called Watery Grave where they had to go in two separate tombs and pass over stars to each other with magnets.

Water spiders, eels and mud crabs were added to their tombs and White said: “I don’t think I can do this. I’ve just come out of the water as I can’t get in with the eels." She then said: "I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! I was trying, I can’t," and the pair left the trial clearing with two stars.

Elsewhere in the episode, there was a VERY awkward moment when Matt Hancock disrupted Boy George talking about him to Seann Walsh. The Culture Club star then ended up telling the former health secretary that he has been “hating on” the former health secretary during their time in the jungle.

The 61-year-old Culture Club singer apologised to the MP for his behaviour towards him and said he found it difficult to "separate" the politician from the person. It came after Boy George told comedian Seann: "(I) can’t stand Matt. I have tried to like him and I’ve failed. I find him slimy, I find him slippery.

"I find him just … I made a joke about chocolate. He just looked at me like … I wanted to say, ‘What are you looking at? Don’t you look at me like that.'" The West Suffolk MP then joined the conversation and Boy George told him: "I was making a joke about the chocolate. For god’s sake I was like … let’s have a bit of fun. I didn’t like the way you looked at me. I made a joke and you were like…"

Matt, 44, said it was not his "intention" and he was sorry for making him feel "uncomfortable". Boy George then told the Bush Telegraph: "He’s probably going to be quite upset and I was kicking off a bit and I just thought, 'you know what, just tell him to his face what you feel.'"

The singer then told Marr: "I just feel everyone’s trying to be too nice. It’s getting on my tits. I don’t want arguments … I’m just like come on guys, have a laugh. I’ll be honest with you, I think your presence has made everyone very compliant." To which the former health secretary replied: "Compliant, it’s a funny word."

Boy George said: "I have been hating on you, I have to be honest. I sometimes feel like you don’t say what you mean and you’re not particularly direct." He added: “I’m trying to separate you as a human being and you as a politician, and I’m struggling with it. We don’t share the same politics.

"I am struggling a little bit with you. That’s not your problem, that’s my problem. I apologise because I was really slagging you off a minute ago." Matt replied and said he would prefer the truth and has "enjoyed spending time with" Boy George.

Following the pair's exchange, it was time to head back to Ant and Dec in the studio and they were pretty taken aback by the conversation. Ant said: "Oh that was so good wasn't it? I couldn't take my eyes off that. That was incredible," as Dec replied: "I felt for poor old Seann, right in the middle of it."

He then added: "He was nearly the first person to say I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here as a result of a conversation between two other people. He wasn't even talking!" After the show, the pair commented again on Matt and Boy George's conversation as they gave their daily debrief on the show.

"It was that awkward moment when you're talking about somebody and that person shows up," Ant said. "Awkward!" Later, when chatting to radio star Nick Grimshaw, who said he had 'respect' for George owning up to Matt over what he said despite finding the scenes horrible, Dec replied: "Fair play to him because a lot of people would have just said, 'Oh we were just talking about something else...'"
