ITV have responded to speculation that, despite all of the story being wrapped up in Monday's finale, hit drama No Return could return for a second series.
Anticipation was sky high for the Sheridan Smith drama, arriving hot on the heels of her star turn in Channel 5's The Teacher, after teaser adverts aired for weeks on end in the run up to No Return's debut in early February.
Former Cilla and Cleaning Up actress Sheridan, also on screen this year's in BBC's Four Lives, played Kathy, a mum left distraught and riddled with nerves after teenage son was arrested at the start of a family holiday in Turkey, accused of sexually assaulting another boy.

After being flung behind bars and looking at a long stretch in prison, Monday's episode saw Noah freed from jail after he made a candid plea for his freedom in the dock, and allowed to return home with his family.
ITV v iewers were left breathing a sigh of relief and, despite Noah's fate being secured, some did ponder whether or not, given No Return's success, if there could be the potential for a second series.
However giving a response to ChronicleLive on Tuesday, an ITV Drama spokesperson appeared to cold water on the speculation, telling us: "No Return was a self-contained series. "
As the credits rolled on episode 4 on Sunday night, one fan took to Twitter to post: "Bloody hell how absolutely brilliant was #NoReturn. yes a few unanswered questions but I'm hoping that is because there is a 2nd series planned."
Clearly not as muichy of a fan,l another posted: "Seriously, why did that take 4 episodes, wish I’d not bothered now. All that time for such a pointless/boring ending! Please itv don’t bother coming back for a 2nd series."
